Good for me
For my own purposes, I'm thrilled. I can deal with entity processing on my own terms, and I'm not so far from regular entity processing that it's difficult to exchange files with other people.
Not instantly exchangeable
Because I've gone beyond the capabilities of DTD-based entities (with textual but not parsed entity values), there are features here that aren't easily reproduced for distribution to the world.
One of the reviews of this paper suggested that I had no idea how standards processes work and that this was a strange pipe dream. I don't have any expectation that this will sweep the world, and I don't much care for the current priorities of standards bodies in the field. This is experimentation - and I think we need to do a lot more experimentation before there's any discussion of XML 2.0 etc.
