Once it was the intersection of capital and production, but information is slowly overwhelming production, turning it to new uses and tracking it closely. Technology cannot arise independently; this hardly means we control it. Even knowing its origins does little to help us put a leash on it; the interests of capital crush Luddite attempts to slow or stop it. There's no money to be had by getting in the way, except perhaps in a sideshow exhibit.
