The hot industry of the 90s, if securities analysts can be trusted. AT&T and its brethren have spread a net across the country, building telephone lines that have evolved into a sophisticated data infrastructure. Microwave towers and fiber optic lines replace copper lines across the country and make new innovations possible. Cyberspace is physically inside these lines, especially the closed network connecting banks, and a terminal anywhere along the line can connect to a system anywhere else in the world. Suddenly an infobahn has arisen, connecting people and money all over the world.
