General Parsed Entities Work
-
When I first started in XML...
general parsed entities were one of the friendlier bits
-
Reasonably simple declaration and application
I declared entities in the DTD and used them in the document. Life was simple and good.
-
Mostly painless limitations
Entityish well-formedness was easy enough to cope with, though it damped some crazy ideas. External entities could even be in encodings different from the one used in the main document.
-
Polite and dull
General parsed entities lack the perverse capabilities of their parameter entity cousins (XHTML Modularization, anyone?) and the opaque blankness of unparsed entities.
