Structuring Transformations

Single-stage Some transformations (my slide generation, for instance) work in a single pass. The origin and the target are well-understood, and nothing else needs to be considered.
Multi-stage Single-stage transformations can be combined into chains of transformations. These transformations can be processed by multiple systems, or inside a single system.
Round trips Translations and sometimes supplements can generally be round-tripped, but most transformations don't allow you to reconstitute the original document.
