William Gibson gave us the term fresh from his manual typewriter, and recognized most of its inhabitants as capital. Today many of us dream of entering this realm, hoping it will offer us a kind of transcendence, the ultimate cogito ergo sum. It seems an escape into the ethereal, but cyberpunk enthusiasts remind us rudely that it takes more than a remote control and an interest to enter this new realm. The police remind us that they don't really want us to visit.
