Sound

Sound is ancient, its waves predating our existence by eons. If a sound lacks a medium, it is stilled completely. It has to act on something to realize itself. Digitized sound is a virus frozen in a scientist's test tube - dead for now but capable of reviving and even reproducing given a willing medium. It's immediate and trusted. Our instincts respond more quickly to sound than to visual stimuli and can respond even when someone is deeply asleep. Our hearing tracks what is behind us, while our eyes can only look ahead.
