Technology

arises at the intersection of capital and information. Once it was the intersection of capital and production, but information is slowly overwhelming production, turning it to new uses and tracking it closely. Technology cannot arise independently; this hardly means we control it. Even knowing its origins does little to help us put a leash on it; the interests of capital crush Luddite attempts to slow or stop it. There's no money to be had by getting in the way, except perhaps in a sideshow exhibit.
