Terminal

used to be the end of the line. Now it seems to be an entryway to information or the hereafter, whichever you think closer to God. Terminals were once hot technology, an innovative way for banktellers to find out your account balance without having to check your passbook every time and punch a lot of cards. Now terminals are passe - everyone wants computer power on their own desktop, not in a distant central room. If we can use our desktop power to connect with distant power, fine. The terminal has acquired intelligence to complement their glowing phosphor screens.
