Telecommunications

The hot industry of the 90s, if securities analysts can be trusted. AT&T and its brethren have spread a net across the country, building telephone lines that have evolved into a sophisticated data infrastructure. Microwave towers and fiber optic lines replace copper lines across the country and make new innovations possible. Suddenly an infobahn has arisen, connecting people and money all over the world.
